OREANDA-NEWS. November 08, 2013. According to the latest figures, the Russian Railways' infrastructure carried 96.1 m passengers in October 2013, 3.1% more than in October 2012. Suburban passenger numbers totalled 88 m passengers, up 4.2% on October 2012, while long-distance passengers fell 7.5% to 8.1 m.

Passenger turnover in October 2013 amounted to 10.3 billion passenger-kilometres, 6% less than in October 2012.

In January-October 2013, the Russian Railways' infrastructure carried 920.9 m passengers, 4% more than during January-October 2012. Long-distance passengers amounted to 94.3 m, a decline of 4.6%, while suburban passenger numbers rose 5.1% to 826.6 m.

Passenger turnover on the Russian Railways' network since the beginning of 2013 amounted to 119.4 billion passenger-kilometres, a fall of 3.8% compared to the same period last year.
