OREANDA-NEWS.  The employees of JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (“SP SPb”) together with the specialists of “Universal Forwarder” successfully completed the operation on handling of two upper-stage rockets “Frigate” for Guiana Space Centre (Kourou Space Centre). Equipment was loaded aboard the vessel “MN Colibri”.
 
Upper-stage rockets “Frigate” and components were delivered to the port in specialized containers by trucks and railway transport. Some of them were reloaded by gantry cranes  to the upper deck of the vessel, some – as ro-ro cargo — via ramp, mounted at the berth 37 of the ro-ro terminal.
 
This is the sixth shipment lot of equipment for Kourou Space Centre that was reloaded via terminals of “SP SPb” under intergovernmental agreement between Russia and France on long-term cooperation in the sphere of development, creation and use of rocket-carriers.
 
Handling of project and out-of-gauge cargoes is one of priority spheres for “SP SPb”. In its disposal the company has the equipment suitable to handle cargoes with weight up to 300 tons,  modern railway infrastructure allowing to accept all kind of railway transporters, storage grounds   for allocation of large shipment lots.
