OREANDA-NEWS. December 09, 2013. According to the latest figures, the Russian Railways network loaded 103.5 million tons of freight in November 2013, 2.6% less than the same month last year.

Compared to November 2012, freight turnover in November 2013 increased by 0.5% to 189.4 billion tariff ton-km. Freight turnover including empty wagon runs during November 2013 increased by 3.5 % and amounted to 243 billion ton-kilometres.

According to the latest figures, loading in January-November 2013 amounted to 1.1336 billion tons, 3.1 % less than the same period in 2012. From January-November 2013, the railways shipped the following freight. The change compared to January-November 2012 is shown in brackets.

coal – 281.9 million tons (+0.3%);

coke – 10.5 million tons (-9.7%);

oil and petroleum products – 227.4 million tons (-3.3%);

iron and manganese ores – 101.7 million tons (+0.8%);

ferrous metals – 64 million tons (-5%);

ferrous metal scrap – 15.4 million tons (-9%);

chemical and mineral fertilisers – 42.6 million tons (+3.3%);

cement – 32.7 million tons (-1.7%);

timber – 32.7 million tons (-2%);

grain – 12.1 million tons (-26.7%);

construction materials – 160.5 million tons (-5.2%);

non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock – 19 million tons (-7.5%);

chemicals and soda – 23.9 million tons (-6.9%);

industrial raw materials and moulded materials – 31.3 million tons (-5.7%).

Freight turnover since the beginning of 2013 amounted to 1,996.3 billion tariff ton-km (-1.9%), while freight turnover including empty wagon runs increased to 2,556.9 billion ton-km, an increase of 0.4 %.
