OREANDA-NEWS. “Our Lost Property auction generated a lot of interest this year and was a great success, raising USD 130, 000,” Sydney Airport Chief Executive Officer, Kerrie Mather, said.

“The funds raised will be given to a range of charitable groups and initiatives, including The Salvation Army, Kookaburra Kids and Youth Off The Streets.

“We’ll continue to identify worthy charities, particularly in our local area, to receive a share of the remaining funds throughout 2014.

“We’d like to thank the public for their support, with more than 3,000 people attending our Lost Property auction to bid on more than 1,000 items on offer.

“Sydney Airport is now holding an online auction to sell the remaining items, including laptops, phones, cameras, cosmetics, sunglasses and jewellery.

“All additional money raised from the online auction will also be distributed to charity.”

Sydney Airport holds an annual Lost Property auction to sell unclaimed items left at the airport, with the funds raised going to various charities. This year’s auction was hosted by Pickles Auctions Australia on Saturday, 16 November.
