OREANDA-NEWS. December 30, 2013. The WISCO project—“Research and Application in WISCO Oriented Silicon Steel Analysis Technology” was certified to be at an international advanced level by scientific and technological achievements appraisal organization.

The oriented silicon steel is regarded as the art of steel products for the most complicated production technology and procedures. Concerning the technical difficulties in analysis tests during R&D and production of WISCO high-grade and high-performance oriented silicon steel in recent years, silicon steel R&D and production units such as WISCO R&D Institute, National Silicon Steel Engineering Technology Research Center, WISCO Hot Strip Mill and WISCO Silicon Plant, under the circumstances that there were no existing standards and technological data for reference at home and abroad, tackled technical problems jointly  and made cooperative research to successively and independently develop the cutting-edge analysis technologies for oriented silicon steel in five aspects of precipitated phase analysis, coating analysis, micro orientation analysis, trace analysis and microstructure characteristics.

Until now, WISCO had 20 unique analysis methods and built systematic and standardized analysis technology system for oriented silicon steel and acquired more than 20 national invention patents or technical know-how. These achievements help WISCO successfully solve a large number of technical problems on R&D, process improvement and quality analysis for oriented silicon steel, thus promoting the production and technology progress in oriented silicon steel and achieving remarkable economical and social benefits.
