OREANDA-NEWS. March 27, 2014. ThyssenKrupp Materials NA, a company of the Materials Services Business Area, has started up a new Service Center in Woodstock, Alabama.

On an area of just under 100,000 square-foot, quality steel, specialty steel and aluminum coils are processed and from here distributed. The modern Service Center has created 20 new jobs; over the years ahead, the facility is set to expand to up to 250,000 square-foot. Plans are to more than double the workforce on completion of construction phase II.

"The America region is the second biggest in our international materials trading business and a prime target when investing in our future," explains Joachim Limberg, CEO of the Materials Services Business Area, adding, "The new plant plays a lead role in our corporate strategy and represents a significant location for us."

Logistically, the ultramodern Service Center is close to the Birmingham conurbation. "Our new facility allows to maintain much closer ties with our customers in the southern states of the USA and substantially extends our supply chain efficiency," says Hans-Josef Hoss, President and CEO of ThyssenKrupp Materials NA.
