OREANDA-NEWS. For the first six months in 2014, NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport served 1,776,170 passengers representing growth of 8.6% compared to the same period in 2013. Passenger traffic on domestic routes totalled 1,055,579 passengers (+11.8%), on international routes - 720,591 passengers (+4.3%).

In June 2014, monthly passenger traffic increased by 12.3% compared to the same period of the previous year and made up 386,164 passengers. As reported, 238,729 passengers were served on domestic routes (+16.4%), while on international routes - 147,435 passengers (+6.1%).

In January-June 2014, the airport provided operation of 20,390 aircraft movements (+11.8%). In June only, it reports 3,854 aircraft movements, a 6.5% increase compared to the same period in 2013.

For the six months' period of the current year, cargo and mail traffic reached 13,542 tons.

The improving operating results could be heavily attributed to opening of the new routes and additional flight frequencies on the existing ones as well as employment of more capacious aircraft to operate flights for the seasonal rise in demand.

In June 2014, passenger traffic demonstrated sharp increase on several destinations. The highest growth dynamics of domestic traffic were registered on Simferopol (3.5 times higher as compared to 2013), St. Petersburg (+66%), Sochi (+62%), Irkutsk (+61%) and Anapa (+53%) routes. Besides, an essential growth showed on the regional flights supported by the state subsidy programme acting in accordance with RF Government Regulation No. 1242 of December 25, 2013 (applied to Abakan, Omsk, Gorno-Altaisk, Tomsk, Kyzyl etc.).

Among the CIS destinations the most rapidly growing are Shymkent (+49% as compared to June 2013), Ferghana (+41%), Osh (+30%), Almaty (+26%), Tashkent (+23%).

In international flights segment the most intensively developing routes are Harbin (+97% as compared to June 2013), Rhodes (+89%), Cam Ranh (+66%), Ho Chi Minh (+58%) and Prague (+48%).

NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit

routes between Europe and Asia. The domestic terminal capacity makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, while the capacity on international flights - up to 750 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO CAT I and CAT II. In 2013 the passenger traffic exceeded 3.7 mln passengers and cargo traffic totalled 29.9 thousand tons of cargo and mail handled.
