OREANDA-NEWS. The work on painting of the first serial Il-76MD-90A transport aircraft is completed. The plane got the name "Ulyanovsk" and the coat of arms of Ulyanovsk region.

For the first time, Russian polyurethane enamel was applied on Il-76MD-90A. All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM) developed a special enamel type VE-69 and VE-71 especially for the modernized aircraft.

"The main features of these paints are that they are almost matt and not glossy, and they have better spreadability and less shagreen. VE-71 enamel has greater resistance to abrasion and temperature when it is applied to the composite materials. These are the requirements of military transport aviation. Also, the enamel have special additional protection properties", - said first Deputy Director of Spektr-Avia Vitaly Zotov.

In the approved by Ministry of Defense livery the plane delivered to the Aviastar-SP Flight Test Center for the planned ground and flight tests.

IL-76MD-90A is an extensively modified version of the well-proven Il-76VD airplane, which was produced in the Republic of Uzbekistan in Tashkent Aviation Production Association named after N.Chkalov.

The contract with the Ministry of Defense on production of 39 Il-76MD-90A transport aircraft was signed in the framework of the meeting chaired by President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in October 2012.
