OREANDA-NEWS. A joint venture of the Kirov Group and ŠKODA TRANSPORTATION (Czech Republic) has completed a contract to supply innovative trains to the Saint Petersburg Metro as part of the NeVa Project. In the beginning of September, the last of 9 rolling stock was delivered to the Customer.

The last 6 cars of the NeVa Project were manufactured in Saint Petersburg by the joint venture of the Kirov Group and ŠKODA TRANSPORTATION. The cars passed preliminary production testing and were delivered to the Saint Petersburg Metro. In total, 9 innovative trains have been delivered to the customer under a contract valued at about USD 90,000,000 USD. The previously delivered rolling stock are serving passengers on the Nevsko-Vasileostrovskaya line of the Saint Petersburg Metro.

The joint venture of the Kirov Group and ŠKODA TRANSPORTATION has produced the latest generation of energy-efficient high-tech subway cars. The rolling stock have no counterparts in Russia. They are made of lightweight materials and are equipped with electric induction motors. Traction drive cars provide up to 30% power savings in the traction and braking mode, as compared to conventional solutions. In addition, the cars are more comfortable for passengers, providing a modern ventilation system, improved ergonomics, and a low level of internal and external noise.
