OREANDA-NEWS. GMCS (a subsidiary of MAYKOR) took part in the project of X5 Retail Group on the transition to the new architecture of the integration solution on the platform SAP PI 7.31. As a result of the transition, X5 received a data bus with the "zero" downtime and carrying capacity that exceeded the current needs in data transmission.

The project was aimed at improving the reliability and efficiency of data exchange, as well as minimizing the risks for business due to potential problems associated with the integration. The retailer runs on SAP, which was implemented in partnership with GMCS.

The migration project included optimization and transfer to SAP PI 7.31 of more than 250 integration scripts with external systems: the SAP systems (ERP, HR, BW), Information Systems of EDI-providers to keep document flow with suppliers, approximately 1,000 retail and warehouse systems, supply chain management system, as well as a single system of reference data. And also, it is a system of information flow switching between integration servers of the unified system SAP PI, which are the independent integration runtime environments, to reduce the risk of operation.

"The specific of the integration processes of X5 implies peak periods of the day, when the traffic increases in tens of times. For business it is essential not to change greatly the delivery time. As a consequence, the integration bus must have sufficient capacity to successfully fulfill these bursts. In the new version of SAP PI we completely abandoned the ABAP-Java-Script and switched to more effective JavaOnly-scenarios, significantly improving overall system performance. A distributed architecture of the bus allows the company to reduce planned outage and possible system failures SAP PI," said Alexander Ustinov, Head of Integration Solutions Department, X5 Retail Group.
