OREANDA-NEWS. Along with other industry representatives, Rick Schostek, Executive Vice President of Honda North America, Inc. appeared at a hearing of the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce, Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade on December 3, 2014 regarding the Takata airbag inflator issue.

Honda welcomed the opportunity to discuss its ongoing efforts to resolve this very complex situation in the interest of our customers' safety.

During the hearing, Honda announced the following key actions:

  • Expansion of Honda's existing regional safety improvement campaign on affected driver airbag inflators to a national effort
  • Working with additional airbag inflator suppliers to increase the availability of inflators
  • Participating in a joint industry-wide third party research effort to share information and testing, with the goal to ensure that all of the inflators that require replacement are accurately identified and fixed as quickly as possible

Honda will continue to cooperate with regulators and the airbag inflator supplier to ensure the repair of vehicles affected by these recalls as soon as possible. In addition, Honda has an ongoing customer service procedure that addresses each customer's needs and concerns.
