Twilio Brings Cloud Communications to Germany
OREANDA-NEWS. Twilio, the cloud communications company, today announced new capabilities for customers of its voice and messaging platform in Germany. With new capabilities, such as German phone numbers, local language support for messaging and text-to-speech, developers and businesses in Germany, as well as global companies with customers in Germany, can easily integrate voice and messaging into mobile Web applications with a more local experience. Also announced, Addresses API, a new capability that streamlines the process to acquire numbers in all countries, including Germany. These advances further strengthen Twilio's ability to support its German development community as well as the over 400,000 developers and businesses worldwide that leverage Twilio to prototype, build and deploy the communications solutions to meet their specific needs.
Twilio's communications platform provides dual-function voice and SMS mobile phone numbers in Germany, enabling developers and businesses to provide a single number where their customers can reach them either by SMS or voice calling. New German phone numbers include local voice numbers, and mobile voice and two-way SMS numbers. Other localized features include:
· German language messaging support with Unicode, which enables users to send and receive German language characters in text messages.
· German language Text-to-Speech for automated voice commands during phone calls.
· Global Low Latency (GLL) to dynamically choose the highest quality, lowest latency media paths for local phone calls.
· Safe Harbor compliance to meet EU privacy and security guidelines.
· Additional controls for data privacy with support for fine-grained control over record and content deletion.
· SMS delivery status API, which provides information message delivery information from carriers in Germany.
· Addresses API to streamline the process of collecting an address and associating it with each phone number -- a requirement for acquiring numbers in Germany.
· Twilio will also launch a German website and Euro pricing in the coming months.
Munich based DriveNow is a joint venture between German automaker BMW and German car rental agency SIXT. DriveNow uses Twilio to inform its customers via SMS about their car reservations, including details of the reserved cars and where they are located.
