OREANDA-NEWS. QuakeCon 2015 is again calling on AT&T to provide high-speed, reliable Internet service for the July 23-26 event in Dallas.  QuakeCon, North America’s largest Bring-Your-Own-Computer (BYOC) LAN party and gaming festival, is celebrating its 20th year and is sponsored by id® Software, Bethesda Softworks® and other leading software and hardware manufacturers.

As U-verse with AT&T GigaPower expands across the country, offering customers Internet speeds up to 1 gigabit per second,** AT&T is returning for the fifth year in a row as the main communications sponsor.  The company’s ultra-fast AT&T network will provide the Internet speeds needed to support more than 2,500 gamers in the BYOC.

The event is open to General Attendees wishing to come in and check out the BYOC and/or the exhibit hall. Activities will include drawings, contests with prizes and exhibits with the latest video games and hardware. Additionally, AT&T helps open up the event to gamers around the world by working with QuakeCon to present live and on-demand video streams of tournaments and presentations. A U-verse with AT&T GigaPower Lounge will also be onsite to provide attendees with the ability to experience ultra-fast Internet speeds up to 1Gbps and award-winning U-verse TV service.

“AT&T has been instrumental in QuakeCon’s success throughout the years. The speed and accessibility their network provides lets attendees and fans watching the action from home get the most out of the event,” said Tim Willits, studio director of id Software. “We’re excited for QuakeCon’s 20th year to be the best and most connected yet.”

“Gaming is all about the highs and lows – high speed and low latency.  We developed U-verse with AT&T GigaPower with that in mind,” said Bob Bickerstaff, vice president of voice and data products, AT&T Home Solutions. “We’re thrilled to show gamers from all over the globe everything our network is capable of providing.”

The AT&T GigaPower network gives customers’ the speed they need to power all of their devices and connect them to their favorite content.  Ultra-fast Internet speeds up to 1Gbps improve the customer experience for consumers and small businesses using the network to connect to the cloud, videoconferencing, online gaming or for other services.

The success of the first AT&T GigaPower market in Austin in 2013 led to a major expansion in 2014. AT&T is considering expanding its all-fiber network to up to 100 cities across 25 markets. U-verse with AT&T GigaPower is currently available to consumers and small businesses across parts of 11 markets – Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Cupertino, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Kansas City, Nashville, Raleigh-Durham and Winston-Salem. AT&T has announced plans to deliver AT&T GigaPower in parts of seven more markets – Charlotte and Greensboro, N.C.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Miami; St. Louis and San Antonio.
