OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, will become a partner of the third charity duck race organized by the Reach of Change foundation for social initiatives to solve childhood problems. All funds raised at the event will be donated to organizations working with children.

The third charity duck festival will take place in Vorontsovskiy Park in Moscow on 28 May 2016. As a part of the event, several thousands of yellow rubber ducks will be floated off to the park’s central pond and will rush to finish along a cordoned off route under a stream shot by water cannon.

The aim of the charity duck race is to raise funds for the Reach of Change foundation for support of social programs and to draw attention to initiatives of social entrepreneurs in Russia. Any Russian resident may join the festival – it is just necessary to buy at least one rubber duck and register it on duckrace.ru. One may purchase yellow “sportsmen” from organizers on the day of the event.

All registered rubber ducks will fight for the victory in the race whereas owners of three swimmers that arrive to the finish first will get Tele2 prizes: Samsung Galaxy A3, two SIMs with vanity numbers and starter balance of 1000 rubles.

The duck race is taking place in Russia for the third time. In 2015, all raised funds have been donated to the foundation for support of NGOs working to improve lives of children and protect their interests. In particular, aid has been provided to the centre for employment of foster homes graduates and young people with disabilities Rabota-I (St. Petersburg) and Belaya Loshad, the gallery of environmental art (Gelendzhik).

Tatyana Burmistrova, chairwoman for the Reach for Change governing board:

“Duck race is a legendary event that has been held over a long time in many world countries. We can say for sure that it is the effective “3 in 1” fundraising tool. It allows participants to have fun, get nice prizes and of course, support people who are opening new opportunities for children”.

Svetlana Skvortsova, Strategy Director at Tele2:

“Social responsibility is an important direction of Tele2 operations. We are happily participating in the duck race and believe that such projects contribute to development of social entrepreneurship in Russia. Donations made by participants and guests of the festival through purchases of rubber ducks come as direct help for people that need support and attention.”
