OREANDA-NEWS. As energy remains an important issue among American voters, API President and CEO Jack Gerard Wednesday provided recommendations to the platform committees of both the Democratic and Republican parties.

“Our 21st century energy revolution has made America the number one producer of oil and natural gas in the world while helping us lower costs to consumers and lead the world in reducing carbon emissions,” Gerard said. “With sound energy policies, the United States can continue on this path as a global energy leader, and remain self-sufficient.”

Gerard released a report to the platform committees of the Democratic and Republican parties outlining several policy recommendations that will continue our nation’s positive energy position:

  • Implement policies that recognize America’s energy reality and are based on sound science and economics.
  • Embrace America’s new era of energy abundance and continue the progress that has been made.
  • Avoid unnecessary, duplicative regulations that place undue burdens on energy development and infrastructure for efficient distribution.
  • Recognize the best way to achieve our energy and environmental goals is through private innovation and investment, in cooperation with governments at all levels.

API is the only national trade association representing all facets of the oil and natural gas industry, which supports 9.8 million U.S. jobs and 8 percent of the U.S. economy. API’s more than 650 members include large integrated companies, as well as exploration and production, refining, marketing, pipeline, and marine businesses, and service and supply firms. They provide most of the nation’s energy and are backed by a growing grassroots movement of more than 30 million Americans.
