OREANDA-NEWS   One thousand tons of fuel from Russia were delivered to Abkhazia on August 11. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic, Batal Mushba, quoted by Sputnik Abkhazia.

"Fuel supplies to Abkhazia do not stop, they are systemic in nature. Unfortunately, external circumstances do not allow for the full delivery of very large shipments," the minister said on a local TV channel. He specified that in July-August, at the peak of the tourist season, fuel consumption increases in the republic by 2-2.5 times, but gasoline prices have so far been avoided due to early purchases of cheaper products.

"We understand that our resources are not unlimited. Naturally, changes in purchase prices will also affect the retail price," admitted Mushba.

At the beginning of the week, the Abkhaz authorities announced the arrival of the specified batch of gasoline from the Russian Federation. "The priority remains to provide vital facilities with fuel and lubricants (..) Gas stations in Galsky, Ochamchira and Tkvarcheli districts, as well as small private gas stations in Sukhum, have been launched. External circumstances lead to disruptions in logistics," the head of the Ministry of Energy said at a meeting on August 10.

Also on August 12, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze confirmed that the country had supplied fuel to Abkhazia to resolve the current situation. Without naming the delivery date, he noted that it was not the authorities who did it, but private entities. "Not us specifically, but business," the head of government said.
