OREANDA-NEWS  The National Transport Company (NTC) transported 8,447,644 tons of coal in July this year, almost at the level of July 2025 (8,475,323 tons, -0.3%), with a total of 115,819 wagon shipments completed, the company's press service reports.

The structure of transportation continued to change in line with the trend of recent months: steady growth in the domestic direction is combined with a decrease in exports through the Northwest and the Azov-Black Sea basin. Exports through the ports of the Far East remain stable. Shipments to the domestic market increased by 1.0% to 4,587,642 tons.

Coal exports decreased slightly in July, by 1.9%, to 3,860,002 tons. At the same time, exports through the Eastern landfill of Russian Railways increased by 5.2% to 3,464,795 tons, offsetting almost the entire decline in the western direction.

"The growth of exports through the Eastern Landfill required systematic work to redistribute the car fleet in favor of the most sought-after routes. A fleet of innovative railcars is actively operating in this area, the number of which NTK retains leading positions among railway operators," the press service noted.

Coal supplies for energy needs in July amounted to 3,530,853 tons as part of 49,323 wagon shipments.
In the first seven months of 2026, NTK transported 61,637,507 tons of coal (+5.5% compared to January–July 2025) as part of 847,397 wagon shipments. Domestic shipments increased by 16.7% to 37,637,256 tons. Export shipments decreased by 8.4% to 24 million tons, while eastern exports increased by 3.8%.

In July 2026, the National Transportation Company (NTC) transported 1,400,664 tons of other cargo — ores, metal products, coke and building materials. The most pronounced dynamics is among ore raw materials and mineral construction cargoes, which showed outstripping growth for the second month in a row.

Key positions by type of cargo: 955,618 tons of metallurgical raw materials for the production of rolled products (iron ore concentrate, pellets, alumina and other ores) — an increase of 48.0% by July 2025. 334,086 tons of inert building materials for infrastructure construction (crushed stone, limestone, reinforced concrete products, sand, cement) were also transported, an increase of 188.7% by July 2025.
