OREANDA-NEWSUkraine is pleased with the terms of the gas contract with Gazprom and considers it the most profitable in the entire history of the country's independence. This was announced at a press conference on Thursday by the executive director of Naftogaz Ukraine Yuriy Vitrenko.

"The parameters of the agreement are beneficial for Ukraine, because for the first time in the history of Ukraine’s independence, we have a contract with guarantees of clearly marked reserve capacities, for which Gazprom must pay regardless of whether they use them or not" - explained Vitrenko.

He also added that the Russian company will pay for the reserved capacity, and not for the amount of gas actually received during transit to Europe. "Despite the fact that the system was not fully loaded and the volumes weren't very significant, Gazprom will pay for all volumes that were reserved", Vitrenko said. He said that Naftogaz isn't negotiating with Gazprom to resume direct gas supplies.
