OREANDA-NEWS Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed by phone the initiative to create a large gas hub in Turkey. This is reported on the Kremlin's website.

According to the press service of the official residence of the President of the Russian Federation, the leaders of the two countries discussed in detail "topical aspects of bilateral cooperation in various fields" and noted the positive dynamics of trade and economic ties, as well as the promotion of joint projects, including in nuclear energy.

"Special attention is paid to the prospects for the implementation of the initiative put forward by the President of Russia in October and supported by Recep Tayyip Erdogan to create a large gas hub in Turkey," the Kremlin said.

Earlier, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez reported that Ankara plans to start work on the implementation of the gas hub project proposed by Moscow from the beginning of 2023.

On November 13, Turkish President Recep Erdogan said that in early December he plans to discuss with the leaders of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan the project of the gas hub proposed by Russia.

Prior to that, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Turkey was chosen as the country to create a gas hub because of the difficulty of working with Europe directly.
