OREANDA-NEWS  Natural gas production in Russia in November 2025 amounted to 59.8 billion cubic meters, which was 3% lower than last year's level (61.614 billion cubic meters m), according to Rosstat.

This figure consists of data published by the agency on the production of combustible natural gas ("natural gas" is primarily Gazprom) - 51.2 billion cubic meters (3.5% lower than November 2024) and associated petroleum gas ("natural gas from oil fields") - 8.6 billion cubic meters (approximately last year's level).

Air temperature, especially during the heating season, is the main factor determining the volume of consumption, and hence gas production. The weather factor, which has a significant impact on energy consumption, was identified as negative in the reporting month. According to the UES System Operator, in November 2025, the average air temperature in Russia was one and a half degrees Celsius higher than a year earlier and three degrees above the climatic norm.

The output of thermal power plants decreased by 4.5% in November, while the output of hydroelectric power plants increased by 5.1%. The output of gas-intensive products such as ammonia (which is also the basis for the production of nitrogen fertilizers) increased by 0.8% in November.

Since the beginning of the year, gas production in the country has reached 600.1 billion cubic meters, which is 3% less than in the first 11 months of 2024 (620 billion cubic meters). Production dynamics is explained by the weather factor - the winter of 2024-2025 was very warm, especially the central months of the heating season, December and January, were very different from the climatic norm.

In 2024, Russia produced 685 billion cubic meters of gas.
