OREANDA-NEWS The first batch of oil from Russia was delivered to Pakistan. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said this on Twitter.

The raw materials were delivered to the Pakistani port of Karachi, it is planned to unload it on June 12.

Sharif called the event significant and added that it serves as the beginning of a new relationship between Pakistan and Russia. He noted that his country is getting even closer to "prosperity, economic growth and energy security." The Prime Minister also thanked those who helped and continue to help with the import of Russian oil to Pakistan.

In May, it became known that Pakistan was interested in a long-term deal with Russia to buy oil. The country's Energy minister Khurram Dastgir Khan said that the state would like to pay for further purchases of Russian oil in yuan, since the country has an agreement on currency swaps (exchange of currencies with the obligation of subsequent reverse exchange at fixed prices) with China.
