OREANDA-NEWS   Russia will use other routes for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) after the ban on its re-export through the territory of the European Union comes into force, Russian gas has no shortage of buyers, Director of the first European Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Artem Studennikov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

In June 2024, the EU imposed sanctions that from March 2025 will restrict the provision of services for the transportation of Russian liquefied natural gas through terminals in the European Union to third countries, but EU members themselves will be able to continue to buy "blue fuel" from Russia in the same mode. The ban applies both to the transshipment of fuel from one vessel to another, and to overloading on the coast.

"Impressive volumes of Russian gas are being re-exported through European ports outside the EU, primarily to countries in the Asia-Pacific region. In particular, through the Zeebrugge terminal in Belgium, most of the Russian LNG has so far been re-exported to Asian countries under an agreement with the Belgian Fluxis gas transportation company. We will use other routes. We do not experience a shortage of partners willing to buy our LNG," Studennikov told the agency.
