OREANDA-NEWS  The CEO of one of the fishing enterprises and his accountant were detained on Sakhalin for illegal production and storage of fish products, salmon caviar and frozen chum salmon were seized in the amount of 5.3 million rubles, the press service of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Sakhalin region reports.

"They were detained on the territory of the production base, where the workshop they rented was located. There, the police found and seized almost 500 kg of salmon caviar, as well as almost 14 tons of frozen chum salmon without specialized labeling and relevant documents. The total value of the seized exceeds 5.3 million rubles," the ministry said in a statement.

According to the press service, a 50-year-old resident of the Khabarovsk Territory and a 53-year-old accountant created a criminal group for the production and storage of fish products and its illegal sale. The identities of the other members of the group are being established. A criminal case has been initiated under paragraphs a, b, part 4 of Article 171.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The maximum penalty provides for imprisonment for up to 6 years with a fine of up to 1 million rubles.
