Russia has become more active in trading with its BRICS partner

OREANDA-NEWS From January to June 2026, the trade turnover between Russia and China increased by a quarter. This is reported by TASS with reference to the data of the General Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China.
Over the past six months, Russia has become more active in trading with its BRICS partner, with an increase of 25.6 percent year—on-year to $134.17 billion.
Exports of Chinese goods increased by 28.4 percent to $60.60 billion during the reporting period. Imports of Russian products and raw materials rose by 23.3 percent to $73.58 billion.
In the first month of summer, the trade turnover between the two countries increased to 24.35 billion dollars. During this time, China exported $11.43 billion worth of goods and purchased $12.92 billion worth of products from Russia.
As previously reported by China Daily, in the first five months of 2026, China's foreign trade grew by 15.3 percent year-on-year and reached 20.68 trillion yuan (more than 3 trillion dollars). In May, the BRICS countries' foreign trade increased by almost 17 percent. Exports increased by 13.8 percent compared to the same period last year, while imports increased by 21.5 percent.
