OREANDA-NEWS. According to a study by the OFD Platform company and the SberAuto service, Russian drivers in 2020 have almost halved the cost of preparing their cars for the winter season compared to last year.

According to the study, consumer demand this fall from September 1 to the present has decreased in almost all categories of goods and services to prepare a car for the winter season. The growth in sales in this segment became noticeable only with the weather changes in the second and third weeks of November.

According to experts, the biggest decline was in the cost of car service. The number of requests fell by 48%, and the average check fell by 24%, to 4,520 rubles per visit.

Car wash services have also become less in demand, while the cost of car wash services themselves has increased. Thus, the number of calls to car washes decreased by 11%, and the average check increased by 3%, to 460 rubles.

Despite the approaching winter, sales of non-freezing liquid decreased by 16% in autumn and by 11% in November. The average bill of expenses amounted to 172 rubles, which is 3% lower than last year.

A slightly better situation is observed only in the category of automobile tires, in which there is even a slight increase - tire sales increased by 2% compared to last autumn. The average check for tires increased by 5%, reaching 14,210 rubles. Russians began to think about changing tires later than last year: the main growth in sales fell on the second and third weeks of November. Compared to November 2019, sales increased by 19%.

Experts explain this decrease in demand for auto goods and auto maintenance services by the expected decrease in demand from motorists due to home covid-distance and predominantly dry weather from September to the first half of November in the central regions of Russia.
