OREANDA-NEWS  A new terminal at the Baikal International Airport in Ulan-Ude is planned to be built by June 2024. This was reported on Tuesday in the press service of the government of Buryatia.

"Construction of a new terminal is starting. The corresponding agreement was signed on December 20 by Dmitry Garmaev, General Director of Baikal Airport, and Vladimir Ivanov, General Director of the contract organization Spektr-Holding LLC. The construction is scheduled to be completed by June 2024. The investor is Novaport Holding, the project cost is estimated at more than 3 billion rubles," the press service reported.

In April 2018, the ceremony of laying the first stone in the foundation of the new terminal took place. Then it was reported that it would be ready for the tourist season of 2021, but difficulties with financing and the COVID-19 pandemic made adjustments in terms of timing. To date, all preliminary procedures have been completed, the land plot has been issued, issues with the Federal Air Transport Agency and the Federal Property Management Agency have been resolved.

"The design has been completed, all the expertise has been received, complex procedures have been carried out, a contractor has been selected - one of the best in the country, which is associated with the construction of more than 20 airports throughout Russia," said the head of the region Alexey Tsydenov at the signing ceremony of the agreement. - We thank the investor represented by Novaport Holding for their help in preparing all the necessary documentation. Despite the fact that for objective reasons there has been an increase in the cost of construction, Novaport has accepted the conditions and is going to the project." The Head of the Republic stressed that the implementation of the project became possible, in particular, thanks to the support of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev.
