OREANDA-NEWSJapanese doctors diagnosed a new coronavirus with a Russian citizen on the Diamond Princess cruise ship, which is quarantined in the port of the Japanese city of Yokohama. This was reported on Monday by the Russian Embassy in Japan.

"During a medical examination by the Japanese authorities of all passengers of the vessel for infection with COVID-19, the coronavirus was detected by a Russian citizen on board. In the near future, the Russian woman will be taken to the hospital where she will undergo treatment", the diplomatic mission noted. This is the first confirmed case of coronavirus infection among Russians. Earlier on February 17, Japanese doctors identified 99 new cases of infection with a new virus on board, and the total number of cases reached 454.

The ship left Yokohama on January 20 and returned on February 3. Among the passengers was a Chinese citizen who discovered a new coronavirus. He descended on January 25 in Hong Kong. By decision of the Japanese authorities, a quarantine was announced on the cruise ship, which is expected to last until February 19.

On February 17, about 380 American citizens left the Diamond Princess. They were delivered to the US Air Force base in California. Also, Australia, Israel, Italy, Canada and South Korea want to evacuate their compatriots.
