OREANDA-NEWS A batch of 25 Belarusian trolleybuses of a new generation was solemnly handed over to Kazan on Thursday with the participation of the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, the Ambassador of Belarus to the Russian Federation Dmitry Krutoy and the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, the press service of the head of Tatarstan reports.

"The new third-generation transport was manufactured by JSC Minsk Automobile Plant in 2023 specifically for Kazan. Trolleybuses have high maneuverability and smooth running. They take into account the most modern requirements for convenience, comfort and safety for passengers," the message reads.

There are 34 seats in the trolleybus cabin, the total capacity is 90 people.

The interior is equipped with upholstered seats and USB sockets for gadgets. The safety of passengers is ensured by a device for continuous monitoring of leakage currents. In the event of a power failure, the emergency autonomous system will allow transport to travel another 2 kilometers.

It is reported that the rolling stock will replace the 2007 cars that have exhausted their resource on the routes within the next week and will be distributed to routes with high passenger traffic.

"This is an important step towards the modernization of the rolling stock of urban electric transport. Despite all the current difficulties, we are not reducing, but rather increasing the requirements for the quality of public transport. The new trolleybuses are air-conditioned, they are low-floor, they have more seats and a wider view, you can charge your phone. This is not just a replacement of old cars, but a step forward," said the Mayor of Kazan.

According to Metshin, Kazan was the first Russian city to try out a new model of Belarusian trolleybuses. Upon arrival, the entire batch of new cars has been debugged and run-in, they are equipped with video surveillance systems and autoinformers.

Kazan started cooperation with Belarusian manufacturing plants in 2012. Today there are more than 700 Belarusian-made buses operating in Kazan, which makes up 80% of the city's bus fleet. With the acquisition of a new batch of equipment, the trolleybus fleet of the Municipal Unitary Enterprise Metroelectrotrans was updated by 22%.
