OREANDA-NEWS. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Minsk is ready to consider the construction of a sea terminal in the Leningrad Region (Russia) at the expense of the saved funds of the Russian loan for the construction of the Astravets Nuclear Power Plant (Grodno Region, Belarus).

“When I met with the President of Russia, we discussed this issue [Of deliveries of Belarusian goods through the ports of the Leningrad Region. – Ed.] a lot. I said that we can cooperate with the residents of the Leningrad region and build our own pier, our own port there. He got enthusiastic over this issue. And I even offered him a financial solution: we are ready to invest in the port everything that we save on the nuclear power plant, which is being built at the expense of the Russian Federation, take a loan from the savings and invest in the construction of the terminal there. We can implement a joint project with you,” Lukashenko said during a meeting in Minsk with the governor of the Leningrad Region, Alexander Drozdenko.
