OREANDA-NEWS György Bakondi, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, has told Hungarian television channel M1 that construction of the second border fence on Hungary’s southern border is in progress, and it will be completed by the deadline set by the Government. According to Mr. Bakondi, the second fence will guarantee border security.

He pointed out that the Government of Hungary will not yield to any blackmail or pressure – including the migrant protest in Serbia or any hunger strikes: it will ensure that laws are enforced on the borders.

Regarding policy changes in Europe related to migration, Mr. Bakondi explained that in Western Europe “doublespeak” on this issue can still be heard, but Hungary prefers “clear and straightforward messages”. The Government is protecting the state border, guaranteeing the safety of citizens and making every effort to extend this safety to each and every citizen in Europe.

Mr. Bakondi also told Kossuth Radio’s “180 Minutes” programme that on Wednesday evening Turkey had partly suspended the migration deal between the EU and Turkey. As a result, Turkey will no longer take back illegal migrants from Greece. The Chief Security Advisor underlined that although Turkish border protection – which is one of the most important parts of the deal - remains intact, this has certainly been another step towards quite a bad scenario.
