OREANDA-NEWS Negotiations on the supply of fully Russian MC-21 aircraft to domestic airlines other than Aeroflot are already underway, but such deliveries are expected after 2030, Anton Alikhanov, head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, told reporters on the sidelines of the WEF-2026.

"In parallel, negotiations are underway with a number of other airlines, but these deliveries are after 2030, since Of course, Aeroflot will become the "anchor" customer," Alikhanov said about the MC-21 deliveries.

The MC-21 is a medium-range narrow-body aircraft developed by Yakovlev Corporation (part of Rostec UAC). The capacity of the new generation aircraft ranges from 163 to 211 passengers. The transfer of serial import-substituted MC-21 aircraft to Russian airlines is expected after completion of certification tests and approval by the Federal Air Transport Agency in 2027.
