OREANDA-NEWS Former figure skaters Ashley Wagner and Adam Rippon criticized the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on the admission of Russian athletes to international competitions. American figure skaters criticized the IOC's decision to admit Russians.

"When I read some statements from the ISU and the IOC recently, I can't help thinking, "The Russians probably talked to you, friends." The decision to admit neutral athletes was clearly not neutral," Wagner said on The Runthrough podcast.

"At the same time, I believe that athletes who are ready to compete honestly and who do not support the conflict should have the opportunity to return to the international arena. Only at the same time they should then agree to constant doping checks and stop training in Russia," Rippon concluded.

The ISU suspended Russian athletes from participating in international competitions under the auspices of the organization in early 2022. CAS will consider an appeal against the suspension of the Russians from the competition on May 2.

On April 6, it was reported that the ISU will discuss the issue of admission of Russian athletes to tournaments in June or October.

On March 28, the International Olympic Committee recommended that sports federations allow Russians who do not support their sports to start as neutral athletes. It was also decided that teams from Russia and Belarus cannot be considered as participants in international competitions.

Earlier, Herboldt called foreign athletes cowards for attacks against Russians.
