"The group, which includes a P8 Poseidon aircraft, surveillance equipment, two Navy ships Lyme Bay and Argus, three Merlin helicopters and a company of Royal Marines, will be ready to provide practical support to Israel and partners in the region, as well as provide deterrence and security," the Prime minister's office said in a statement.

As noted, from Friday, British maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft will begin flying in the region to track threats to regional stability, such as the transfer of weapons to terrorist groups.
