Customs officers detained her at a checkpoint in Vladikavkaz, having found a biomaterial without documents in her luggage. For the legal transportation of female cell samples, certificates from the Federal Service for Technical and Export Control (FSTEC) are required.

The detainee explained that she received test tubes at a St. Petersburg clinic intended for a medical facility in Tbilisi, where she planned to carry out an IVF procedure worth $ 6,500.

The woman faces a criminal case under the article on the smuggling of strategically important resources, for which a penalty of up to seven years in prison and a fine of one million rubles is provided.
