OREANDA-NEWS  Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he would not allow the country's opposition to attack Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow.

At a speech in Istanbul, Erdogan promised to prevent attempts by the Turkish opposition to criticize the Russian leader.

"Bye-bye Kemal [Kemal Kilicdaroglu] is attacking Putin, Russia. I can't let that happen. Our relations with Russia are no less important than with Washington," he said. Earlier, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov denied Russia's interference in the elections in Turkey.

Accusations against Moscow were made by the leader of the Republican People's Party, Kemal Kilicdaroglu. He made such a statement after the publication of a video, which shows how the leader of the Kurdish militants calls to vote for Kilicdaroglu. He called the video a montage created by the Russian side. In response, President Erdogan shamed the competitor.

Presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey will be held on May 14. The second round of presidential elections will be held on May 28 if no candidate wins 50 percent of the vote.
