OREANDA-NEWS  European countries are ready to mediate in the conflict between Iran and Israel, but will demand that Tehran withdraw its support from Russia. This is reported by the Reuters news agency.

"The Iranians cannot sit down at the negotiating table with the Americans, but we can. We will tell them to return to negotiations to discuss the nuclear issue before the worst-case scenario occurs. At the same time, we will express our concern about Russia's support," said one of the European diplomats.

At the same time, European countries, unlike the United States, do not require Iran to completely abandon uranium enrichment, allowing limited enrichment for civilian purposes with Tehran's consent to the strictest international inspections of the nuclear program, the agency says.

Direct talks between the foreign ministers of Iran, Britain, France and Germany will be held in Geneva on June 20. The meeting will also be attended by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaya Kallas. The main topic of the talks is expected to be Tehran's nuclear program.
