OREANDA-NEWS  France and Hungary oppose the anti-Russian sanctions of the European Union (EU) in the field of peaceful atom and nuclear cooperation with Russia. This was announced by the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry Peter Szijjarto on his Facebook page.

"We also agree that it makes no sense to impose sanctions on nuclear cooperation with Russia," the diplomat wrote, adding that France and Hungary are fighting together "against discrimination against nuclear energy."

The Minister also mentioned the participation of the French company Framatome in the construction of new units of the Paks NPP in Hungary. "We are grateful to the French government for allowing Framatome to supply a control system for the new nuclear power plant," concluded Szijjarto.

Earlier, Poland and Lithuania proposed to include restrictions on Russian nuclear energy in the tenth package of sanctions of the European Union. Warsaw and Vilnius also propose to expand sanctions against Russian media and banks by disconnecting several more credit institutions from the SWIFT system.
