In Europe, the reasons for the record rise in price of eggs were named

OREANDA-NEWS Wholesale egg prices in the EU have risen to their highest level in the last decade due to an outbreak of avian influenza and a decline in production related to the fight against climate change. Bloomberg writes about this.
The article notes that this "cheap protein source" has risen in price by 12 percent since the beginning of the year, to record levels at least since 2012. The upward trend in the cost of eggs is also attributed to rising feed costs and the fact that "consumers are looking for cheaper protein alternatives to meat," and, for example, the Netherlands, which is called the largest exporting country, has reduced its livestock industry in recent years to reduce carbon emissions.
Against this background, the demand for eggs continues to grow, as a result of which there are fewer and fewer available for wholesale, experts say. According to Dineo Comane, a reporter for Expana, a provider of specialized market analytics, egg prices tend to go up by Easter, after which they usually stabilize, but there is no understanding yet whether this trend will continue in the current conditions.
The situation with avian flu has led to the fact that eggs in the United States have increased in price by 13.8 percent in a month, and in general, their cost may rise by more than 41 percent in 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture predicts. The American authorities have begun to look for markets where they are ready to sell them eggs to fill the deficit. France has already pointed out the lack of necessary volumes, and Poland has been informed that there is a possibility of supplies, but they called it limited.
