OREANDA-NEWS A senior source in the Indian Defense Ministry said that India will test the S-400 anti-aircraft missile system purchased in Russia in the near future. This is reported by the Ani agency.

"Very soon it is planned to fire using one of the short— or medium-range missiles at a fast-moving aerial target," said a representative of the Indian Defense Ministry.

According to him, the Russian anti-aircraft missile system has missiles capable of shooting down fighter jets or cruise missiles at a maximum range of 400 km. The representative of the defense department also added that the Indian armed forces conducted a launch from the S-400 air defense system during tests in Russia, but the system has not yet been tested in India.

Earlier it was reported that on March 1, India received the third batch of S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile systems from Russia. The first two batches of the complex were received in December 2021 and April 2022 and were deployed to guard the borders with Pakistan and China.

Due to sanctions against Russia, India is looking for alternative opportunities to pay for arms supplies from the Russian Federation and their maintenance.

By the end of 2023, India will receive five batches of S-400 air defense systems.
