OREANDA-NEWS Tehran and Moscow have gained good experience in recent years in countering the hostile policies and economic pressure of Western countries, Deputy head of the Committee on Economic Affairs of the Iranian Parliament Jafar Qaderi told RIA Novosti, commenting on Russia's entry into the four largest economies in the world.
According to the results of last year, Russia became the fourth economy in the world - the country's GDP for the first time exceeded $ 7 trillion at purchasing power parity (PPP), follows from the IMF data and RIA Novosti's own calculations. The top three world leaders in this indicator include China, the United States and India.
According to the IMF forecast, in 2026, Russia's GDP by PPP will amount to about 7.34 trillion dollars. Thus, Russia will retain the fourth place in the world and the first in Europe, ahead of Japan and Germany.
"Both Iran and Russia have gained positive experience in recent years in opposing Western countries and waging economic wars. The more both countries strengthen their economic stability, the more they strive to realize their internal potential and reduce dependence on the outside world, the less vulnerable they will be to external challenges," Kaderi said.
He noted that now Tehran and Moscow should step up efforts to reduce economic dependence on Western countries, including through international blocs such as the SCO and BRICS, in order to reduce the influence of Western military levers.
