OREANDA-NEWS Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni told other heads of state and government at the G7 summit that she had finally quit smoking. This is reported by the BILD Telegram channel in Russian (included in the register of foreign agents by the Russian Ministry of Justice).
During a conversation with European leaders, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz jokingly asked Meloni a question about her bad habit. "I quit," the Italian prime minister replied, adding that she did it a month ago.
The audience greeted her remark with applause. "Did you quit? Bravo!" said Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission.
Earlier it was reported that the G7 countries intend to increase sanctions pressure on Russia against the background of the situation in Ukraine. A joint statement by the participants of the summit in France notes that the G7 countries plan to tighten sanctions against Moscow, including against the Russian oil and gas sector.
