OREANDA-NEWS Russia's request for the extradition of F.A.C.C.T. employee Nikita Kislitsin will have priority over the American one, Deputy Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan Ulan Baizhanov told RIA Novosti.

"There is no question of priority, first of all it is citizenship. In this case, the priority belongs to the Russian side. But we will have to make sure that all the acts that he is accused of, including by Russia, are serious enough," the agency's interlocutor said, answering the relevant question.

Baizhanov added that Astana will study the grounds set out in the requests of Russia and the United States. According to him, it is necessary to establish whether the acts that he is accused of in the States are criminally punishable in Kazakhstan. In addition, the Deputy Prosecutor General noted, the initiators of the request must provide evidence of the validity of their request.

"Only after the proceedings will measures be taken," Baizhanov said.

A similar procedure will be applied if a request from the Russian side is considered, the agency interlocutor added. At the same time, he noted that Kislitsin has the right to request asylum in Kazakhstan.

On Wednesday, it became known that Nikita Kislitsin, an employee of the cybersecurity company F.A.C.C.T., was detained on June 22 in Kazakhstan. The authorities of the republic are studying the grounds for extradition upon request to the United States. The RIA Novosti company said that the claims against Kislitsin in this case are related to the events of a decade ago, when he worked as a journalist.
At the same time, the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow on June 28 arrested Kislitsin in absentia on suspicion of unlawful access to data. His card appeared in the search database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
