Odessa official appointed himself mayor

OREANDA-NEWS Secretary of the Odessa City Council Igor Koval signed an order, according to which he appointed himself acting mayor of the city, bypassing voting in local authorities. The text of the document is published in the Telegram edition "Страна.иа ".
"I am assuming the duties of the Odessa city head from October 16, 2025," the order says on behalf of Koval.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on the deprivation of citizenship of Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov on October 14. The reason for the decision was the alleged presence of Trukhanov's Russian passport.
Trukhanov himself refused to resign until the City Council terminated them. At the same time, according to him, the council does not have enough votes to approve this decision.
