OREANDA-NEWS Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wondered why Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should not have come to the republic during the summit of the European Political Community (ENP) in early May. The speech of the head of the Cabinet of Ministers was broadcast by the agency Armenpress.
On May 3, Vladimir Zelensky arrived in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, to participate in the ENP summit, where, in particular, he held a meeting with Pashinyan in English. Later, the Ukrainian leader issued a statement during the event, where he threatened to strike at the May 9 parade in Moscow. The latter was the reason for summoning the Armenian ambassador to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"They also talk about why the President of Ukraine came to Armenia. I'm sorry, but why shouldn't he have come?" — said Pashinyan. He noted that during the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Baku. According to him, this did not raise any questions in Yerevan.
The ENP and Armenia—EU summits were held in Armenia from 4 to 5 May. It brought together the leaders of the European Union, the Western Balkans, the South Caucasus, as well as Ukraine and Moldova. The sides discussed security issues, the process of Armenia's rapprochement with the EU and the prospects for resolving the Ukrainian conflict.
