OREANDA-NEWS  Rosatom has reported in detail to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the implementation of the scheme for the placement of new future nuclear power plants in the Russian Federation, and the head of state has given specific instructions, Rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachev said.

Putin on Thursday held a meeting on the development of nuclear energy in Russia. About 30 GW of new nuclear generating capacities are to be commissioned in the Russian Federation, the head of state noted.

"We, the Ministry of Energy, and many other departments have reported to the President in detail on the tasks of implementing the general scheme (placement of electric power facilities in Russia until 2042 - ed.) This is actually an upgrade of the entire country's electricity generation," Likhachev told reporters on the sidelines of the second stage of the XXIII Congress of the United Russia Party, which is taking place in Moscow on Saturday, August 22.

"In particular, we will have to build more capacities in the nuclear industry than we currently have. These works have their own aspects - technological, machine-building, personnel, financial, resource, and all these issues have been thoroughly considered by the president and specific instructions have been given," Likhachev added.
