OREANDA-NEWS  Alexander Lavrentiev, the special representative of the Russian president for the Syrian settlement, said that there is evidence of US plans to begin withdrawing its military from Iraq. He is quoted by TASS.

According to the special representative, in this way Washington will meet the demands of Baghdad. Lavrentiev stressed that the withdrawal of American troops from the Middle Eastern country could take years.

Earlier on Thursday, CNN, citing sources, also reported that the United States plans to begin negotiations with Iraq on the withdrawal of American troops in the near future. It is noted that the parties are "close to an agreement on the beginning of a dialogue within the framework of the supreme military commission."

It also became known that the US authorities are discussing the withdrawal of troops from Syria, as they do not see any tasks for maintaining the contingent.
