Saudi Arabia restored quotas for Hajj for Russian pilgrims

OREANDA-NEWS The leadership of Saudi Arabia has decided to restore previously reduced quotas for Hajj for Russian pilgrims, Deputy Chairman of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Russia (DUMA of the Russian Federation) for International Affairs and Hajj, Mufti of the Moscow region Rushan Abbyasov told RIA Novosti.
"This year, a situation has developed that has led to a reduction in Hajj quotas for Russian Muslims by 2,750 places.
Thanks to the joint efforts of the Duma of the Russian Federation, the presidential Administration, the Government of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, it was possible to allocate the missing quotas to Russians. We thank the leadership of Saudi Arabia in the person of His Majesty the custodian of the two holy sites, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman Al Saud for heeding our requests and restoring the missing quota for our compatriots," said Rushan Abbyasov.
He noted that in 2025, 25,000 pilgrims from Russia will go on the Hajj.
