OREANDA-NEWS Several people were injured in an explosion at a hydroelectric power plant in the Swiss canton of Ticino, the 20Minutes portal reports.

"On Wednesday morning, an explosion occurred at the Ritom hydroelectric power plant located in Piotta (canton of Ticino). According to preliminary information, several people were injured," the report says.
The portal also notes that the structure partially collapsed. There could be people inside.

The police of the canton of Ticino confirmed to the media that operational measures are being carried out on the spot. Firefighters and rescuers are also working at the site, and a helicopter is involved. The area around the HPP is cordoned off.
