OREANDA-NEWS  SpaceX will build a spaceport for launching reusable transport systems — Starship rockets — in Louisiana (USA). This is reported by Reuters with reference to the company.

The company estimates the cost of its largest spaceport with a total area of more than 50,000 hectares at $100 billion. The first Starship launches from the new site are scheduled to begin in 2029. The ground infrastructure, according to SpaceX, will include, in particular, a methane production plant and an airport.

SpaceX says that the Louisiana site will create more than three thousand new jobs in the region. According to the office of Governor Jeff Landry, the average salary at these jobs will be 92.6 thousand dollars.

Earlier, American businessman Elon Musk said that SpaceX, using the reusable Starship transport system, will deliver up to 10 million tons of cargo per year to low-Earth orbit.

In July, the site Space.com Citing astronomer Jonathan McDowell, he said that SpaceX plans to launch about 100,000 third-generation Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit.
