OREANDA-NEWS  The Sudanese delegation asked Moscow for help in resolving the civil conflict at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Deputy head of the Transitional Sovereign Council of Sudan Malik Agar said. The quote is quoted by RIA Novosti.

"We also briefed the [Russian] Foreign Minister on the roadmap for resolving the Sudanese crisis," Agar stressed at a press conference in Moscow. The Minister also noted that Sudan views Russia as a friendly country and asked for "economic and strategic assistance."

In April 2023, armed clashes began in Sudan between the regular army and the Rapid Reaction Forces (RDF). The latter represent tribal groups, while possessing a large number of weapons. The reason was the conflict between the head of the Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the commander of the SBR Mohammed Hamdan Daklu (Hamidti).
